about

John Bergin (Trust Obey, C17H19NO3) and Lance Grabmiller (Praemedia) team up for an exhilarating glitch-hop experiment.

Skirting the outer edges of trip-hop, breakbeat, dance, and experimental electronic music, Anthropology explores the broken, the hallucinatory, the nightmarish, and the brutally visceral. Not for the faint-hearted. The distorted electronic slabs of sound and dive-bombing beats may well be perfect muzak for an elevator ride into hell, but the album is not without moments of beauty and subtlety, as heard in “Shallow”, “Ashland” and “Driving” (which, by the way, is a perfect song for driving at night - preferably alone through the empty late-night streets of a neon-lit metropolis). Exhilarating melodic hooks, pulverizing breakbeats, white noise, and euphoric surges of electronic bliss make Anthropology an aural journey worth taking.
